lego girl

Oh man what have I done? I decided it was time for Taryn to get another trim so we headed over to the salon. I sat her on the counter, got out my shears and spray bottle and spritzed her down. I was so surprised to see how fast her hair has grown since I cut it last (which was only 2 months ago) and it was already back to that long mullet-y length.

Anyway, I start trimming and all goes well...then I made the quick decision to trim her bangs that had become long and "stringy' looking.

Not a good idea!

Because there are weird random spots by her temples where the hair is still sparse, it now looks like I purposely cut short goofy bangs that go all the way past her temples! ahhh.... this is a crisis!

Everyone has said, "ah it looks fine...it's cute." Well, you are not her mother who is a hairstylist and has waited 20 months to have hair for this child! Then yesterday my little sister made the comment saying, "ha, it's like lego hair!"

shoot.

ok, the good side is her bangs are still long enough to clip back. Hopefully in a couple weeks it will have grown out enough for me to not look at and and cringe, then laugh, then immediately think of this...

more mischief

While I was putting away laundry and cleaning up my bedroom Taryn and Lexi were getting into some mischief of their own.

just staying busy building a pillow fort

I love Taryn's face in this picture... "what mom, it was all Lexi!"

sick of being SICK!

So the weekend of valentines I stayed at my parents house Friday night while they were out of town. Taylor was going to the Valentines dance and Amy didn't want to be all alone, especially because she was feeling sick. Well, the next day I was the one feeling sick and am STILL feeling sick and am SICK of it!

Amy's virus has moved on, and even Robbie got it and his has passed too! Well what the heck, why am I still a victim??? I even went to the doc last week almost hoping for a positive strep test or something like that to confirm the fact that I feel like crap (like my rhyming?) But no, just a virus that should clear up on it's own. In the meantime I get to cough up my lungs, blow my nose until it's raw, rub my itchy watery eyes, and wait this thing out.

I'm officially DONE with winter.

something sweet

The picture is a little crooked and out of focus, but I did take it while I was driving.
Taryn now uses mr. monkitty as a pillow.

I thought is was cute.

How does your local grocer compare?

This is what was going on at the Dan's supermarket today as we picked out a valentines card for Robbie.

Taryn thought this guy was pretty funny stuff.

I'd say I have to agree...

Happy Valentines Day.

Good Eye

As you know from my last post, one of my plans today (the only one that I actually accomplished) was watching American Idol. Hollywood week is pretty intense! I thought the guys were great, especially that dueling piano's dude...anyway, we were waiting for the suspense to end as the contestants awaited their fate from Paula, Randi, and Kara in the 4 different holding rooms. Robbie noticed a girl who looked familiar. Lucky for us we have the ultimate tv watching tool - DVR - and could rewind and replay all we wanted. This girl did look familiar, hmmm they haven't even shown a little bit of her singing yet... how do I know her... then I figured it out.
It's Jenn from Hi-5!
Ok, let me explain,
Hi-5 is a show on Discovery Kids that Taryn has become a little obsessed with. It is the ONLY show on tv that she will actually watch from beginning to end. Another wonderful feature we have is Comcast "On Demand" and Hi-5 always has a few episodes to choose from. These songs just about kill Robbie every morning as he has the pleasure of watching along with Taryn. Back to my point...after seeing this look-a-like Jenn a few more times, we still were not positive that it was her. I was determined to find out... thank you google (and super duper high speed internet provided by Comcast) I found Jenn's website and there was a blog/journal entry from 3 days ago that mentioned her golden ticket getting her into Hollywood week on American Idol. Ha! I was right after all! So maybe you'll notice her tomorrow night...she's actually a really good singer and in all honesty I would love to have her job. It used to be one of my childhood dreams to be a star on Barney. Go ahead and laugh, but what else would a girl want...singing and dancing all day long.

Good luck Jenn...Taryn, Robbie, and I will be rooting you on. ;)

I love to see the temple

I went inside the other day...

to the new Draper temple, open for the public to see.
It was truly amazing. I Love Love LOVE going to the temple and feeling that warm, peaceful, comfort from the spirit. I was so excited to have Taryn in tow with us to experience this opportunity. Even though she is a little too young to fully understand, I'm pretty certain she "knew" who's house we were in.

The Draper temple is one of a kind. Of course each temple is unique in it's own way...but I felt like this one was so special. I absolutely loved the artwork portrayed throughout each room, and hallways. There were a lot of paintings I had never seen before. I love that our faith is more focused on artwork that shows the life of Christ and His ministry. It reminds me of the love and service He gave here on earth and the eternal love and compassion He has for us today. If you get the chance, go to the open house and see for yourself what a beautiful temple it is.

Sunday Best

Taryn reminded me of a little Scottish girl in this cute dress my grandparents gave her for Christmas.
Every Sunday I think she looks even cuter than the one before.

I love dressing a little girl up in her Sunday best to go to church!
